Police have today said two people were killed in a devastating explosion at a fireworks factory, including a former kickboxing champion only working there unpaid for a 'few days' as a favour to a friend.
Father of one Simon Hillier, 41, and another unnamed victim died after the huge blaze tore through the SP Fireworks warehouse in Stafford last night after thousands of rockets exploded and caused the roof to collapse.
Four others were injured and one of those is in a critical condition in hospital.
Workers trapped in the fire last night have told how they ran for their lives to escape the blaze as fireworks exploded around them and the building began to collapse.
Mr Hillier's bereft family said today they were 'numb' and unable to cope while a close friend said he was only working there this week to help a friend as the business prepared for Bonfire Night.
Staffordshire Police's search teams, which includes a specialist police cadaver dog, found two bodies this afternoon.
Detectives also said today that they arrested a 53-year-old in connection with the incident, but he has been released without charge and treated as a witness.
